We've all heard the argument that eating out is "too expensive" and that includes fast food places. The truth is there are many fast-food places right here in Cedar City where you can get a complete meal for less than five dollars.
1. Dairy Queen - 5 Buck Lunch
This meal includes your choice of 3-piece chicken tenders or a deluxe cheeseburger with a side of fries, fry-sauce, 20 oz drink and dessert. The best part about this 5 Buck Lunch is that you can choose your dessert. Dilly bars are my personal favorite but you can choose several flavors of sundaes or upgrade to a mini blizzard for just $1 more-regardless of the flavor. As of last year, the 5 Buck Lunch is available all day long and with tax it comes to only $5.35.
2. KFC - 5 Dollar Fill-up
This is another great meal choice that offers a lot of options. You have the choice to include 3-piece tenders, a drumstick and thigh, breast piece, famous bowl or pot pie as the main dish. Every meal choice comes with mashed potatoes and gravy, a medium drink and a chocolate chip cookie (with the exception of the famous bowl or pot pie which come without mashed potatoes and gravy). KFC's main competitor is Chick-fil-A where a similar meal would cost upwards of $7... without a cookie included. And if you're not a mashed potatoes fan you can substitute french fries instead of the shed potatoes.
3. Wendy's 4 for $4
What started as a limited time offer is now a regular offer at your nearby Wendy's. 8 different sandwich options paired with four chicken nuggets, a small fry, and a drink. Since I order one of these meals at least once a week, I can tell you that the total with tax comes to $4.28. It's even better if you have a frosty key-chain that they sell once a year that gives you a free frosty with every purchase. In that case you can get five items for only $4.28.
According to a press release given by the Wendy's company, "By giving customers more of what they love at an unbeatable price, Wendy's builds on its reigning Fresh Beef title, now claiming the throne as Value Meal champion. . . There's no reason to go anyplace else."
4. Burger King - Whopper Jr Meal
Although this item is not a limited-time special, I had to include it because it is available all day everyday and there's no chance of it ever going away. Whopper Jr's are part of the identity of Burger King. If you don't like onions though, I would try a different option but for onion lovers a Whopper Jr is where it's at.
Fair warning: if you're starving this is not the meal for you. I would only use this as a lunch option because it is a lighter meal. But again, with tax it is only $5.35.
