My two favorite things about eating out are only available for a limited time-and they're both happening this week!

Shamrock Shakes - McDonald's

This is my all-time favorite snack. It's creamy, it's green, and it's minty. If you are a fan of mint chocolate chip ice cream this is the shake for you and it's only available once a year for the 3 weeks before St. Patrick's day. They sell out quickly and they don't re-stock; so sometimes they're out of supplies before March even comes around.

The first Shamrock Shake was served in 1970 but was called " St. Patrick’s Day Green Milkshake".... aren't we glad they changed that title?
In 1974 Shamrock Shakes even became responsible for starting The Ronald McDonald House. In partnership with the Philadelphia Eagles, McDonald's used the proceeds from Shamrock shakes to build the very first Ronald McDonald house.
The shakes began to fade out in 1990 but came back in full-swing in 2000. In 2010 it received a face-lift meaning that it got a clear cup, a squirt of whipped cream and a cherry on top.
Trust me, don't wait on going to get your Shamrock Shake. Growing up I had an Uncle who worked at McDonald's as a manager. Our family would go over at least once a month to support his store and, of course, to add a couple of Happy Meal toys to our toy box. Frighteningly enough, if you do the math that means I've been to McDonald's at least 267 times (and I'm sure there's plenty more where that came from). Out of all of the times I've been, the Shamrock Shake is by far my favorite seasonal treat.
If you do miss out on this item, there's a recipe to make your own at home (But I've never tried it so I can't guarantee that it is equally delicious).
National Pancake Day - an IHOP celebration
Just by entering any IHOP location, tomorrow (February 27th) from 7 am - 7 pm you are guaranteed a FREE short stack of pancakes. No purchase necessary. (I sound so official I know).

Last year three of my friends went and got three free short stacks of pancakes. I'm not even lying to you. The servers were friendly - but lets take a moment to remember that although you don't have to pay for the pancakes, leaving a tip for the server is always appreciated:) Voluntary donations will also be collected to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Shriners Hospitals for Children, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
This is my favorite thing because IHOP has at least four different flavors of syrup. You could literally try out a different flavor combination of syrup with every bite.
Leave your favorite seasonal treat in the comments so I can go try it out. I'll be seeing you all at IHOP and McDonalds!
Until next time,
Katrina
